Music BlogSoundBytes (about SOR Ultimate Bundle
Sounds Of Revolution Ultimate Bundle is a 28000-strong collection of samples Oliver Schmitt has created over the years. It includes 33 titles and 39+ GB of sampling materials that will forever be inexhaustible. You’ll get plenty of loops and one-shots, along with sampler patches that were expertly made by SOR. Although this bundle is mainly for electronic and dance music producers and musicians, there is a high versatility of content here. What can I say?! Great titles, great well-recorded samples that were processed properly at a very attractive price. This is a no-brainer. Ultimate Bundle is an instabuy. (SoundBytes 01/2022)

German Print Magazine for MusiciansBeat Magazine about SOR Organic Dub Techno
It is a 2.7 GB sample colossus consisting of 864 loops at 124 BPM and 151 one-shots, including atmos (20), basses (100), guitars (23), clicks (23), synths (157), and pads (62), as well as drums with and without kick and optionally with or without effects. A selection of individual samples with drums, pads, and effects is provided. Particularly noteworthy, however, are the seven demo songs, whose tracks have been broken down into individual stems so that you can quickly build your own arrangements around them. The dry kicks have plenty of punch, as does the bass material, even if they sometimes sound too sub-heavy. The experimental loops provide plenty of glitch and whisked effects. Verdict: The combination of organic live recordings and synthetic elements is very well done, so you can expect not only machine-like Deep Techno, but also a dynamic humanistic vibe.

Again sounds of revolution brings us an excellent sample library. Very usable to get things on the tracks quickly with a wide variety of kicks, loops and synths but also stacked with loads of creative elements to finetune any production!

CompuRW Computer Music 102ter Music Magazine UK (about SOR Club Revolution Vol.1)
[..] This sample pack is a serious contender for the best hard dance sample pack we’ve ever heard. [..] Oliver Schmitt has done his job well, crafting over 2,700 unique samples, all of which sound wide, deep, punchy and ready for use in cutting-edge dance music.

German Print Magazine for MusiciansBEAT Magazine Germany (about SOR Hats & Tops Bundle)
The three-part Hats and Tops bundle is a 622 MB sound collection specializing in crisp percussive sound material. The 325 top loops, which vary in tempo between 124-127 BPM, do without kick drums altogether, but are sophisticated and varied. From overtone-rich filtered percussion including hissing hi-hats to transient-rich claps with subtle delays, the selection is very large. As a bonus, the package Prime Kicks 2 with juicy bass drums is included. The bassdrums show their charm and enormous power particularly with the layered kicks. The analog kicks and break kicks are also very impressive. A big plus of this sound collection, besides the kickdrum pack, is that it offers cross genre drums for electronic music that work for House, Tech-House, Techno, Electro or Minimal equally well.

German MagazineKEYS Magazine Germany (about SOR Moving Particles)
[…] The kicks are powerful and perfect. The very good-sounding percussions are versatile and partly enriched with unusual sound effect elements. The noise loops produced from noise are also amazing. The sharp-edged, discordant synth chords might scare the faint-hearted. The basses are more subtly mumbling, sometimes distorted or spluttering, but groovy. A major highlight of this collection are the sound effects, some of which are granulated and offer great potential for sound design, including field recording effects. The vocal loops are thoroughly whisked and alienated beyond recognition. Conclusion: Moving Particles is a great source of inspiring sounds that can be used not only for underground techno, but also for sound design.

The value of a good samples pack can often be judged on three things; the quality of the sounds, the amount that they inspire, and ease with which you can then incorporate the sounds into your own tracks. German sound wizard Oliver Schmitt spent nearly a year painstakingly creating all the sounds and loops for his first sample pack, Club Revolution Vol.1, which easily ticks all these boxes. […] contains a massive collection of extremely usable effects. The main samples comprise 650mb of 16bit, 44.1 WAVs. Whilst this may not match other packs recorded at 24bit resolution, it allows for twice as much content – and the sound quality is excellent. Also included are 522 patches for Kontact and EXS, which map every single sample and loop to the keyboard. This really is a professional pack made by a producer for a producer, and this is backed up by the long list of testimonials from cutting edge artists who are fans of Oliver’s work. There’s no hand holding here either: what you get are hundreds of individual hits, sweeps and loops that you can incorporate into any style of electronic music. Oliver clearly understands exactly what kinds of sounds make up a complete dance track and has covered every single base with staggering variety. The only drawback is that, with so many quality samples on offer, you’ll find it hard to decide which ones to use. VERDICT: An essential toolkit for anyone writing electronic music.

As always, the programming and sound design is extremely creative and interesting, making it stand out from other similarly-themed sample libraries. Sounds of Revolution have always made products with good production quality, but it feels like they upped things a notch this time around. The loops especially draw a better balance between loud/punchy and dynamic than before and sound professional and present without being smashed within an inch of their lives. Rating: 10/10

RW BangTheDJ 102Bang the DJ
The best part for us though is the loops section, You’ll find loops that are well constructed and flexible enough to use in any EMD genre. The loops are not over producer either like some sample packs. Oliver is a master of his craft and although he’s created some killer loops he has also left enough scope for the you to further edit, glitch ,stutter smash and mangle which is exactly what you want from a good sample pack. Rating: 10/10

Sounds of Revolution Samples are always my first choice. The production quality is top-notch and speaking from my taste, they are not too over-processed. They sit perfectly in any mix right from the get-go, are very inspiring, and a must-have for any producer in this genre.

Club Revolution Vol.1 marks a new milestone in sound design. It´s the most inspiring sample cd I have ever encountered! CR1 is one of the rare sample archieves that comes with really new, exclusively produced material. Each groove is to be seen as an artwork on its own – programmed perfection. But even better: There are tons of unheard-of drums/electro & percussions sounds, breathtaking and really new FX stuff etc, too. Most of the time SOR keeps the content quite dry, so i can do the creative stuff – perfect! CR1 is so much better than the standard sample libraries with their boring ripped content and it rocks in ways that other developers can only dream of. Revolutionary !

RW Blank Jones 102Blank & Jones
After being a fan of the sound sets for Vanguard and ES 2, Sounds of Revolution delivers a new exciting Sample Collection “Club Revolution Vol.1”. Really fresh and excellent sounding samples for update club music production. It’s not like the usual collection of loops, like other CD’s, which you heard like a 1000 times. They are exclusively produced for this CD, with much love for the details. Even the kick free loops are not just low cutted, they are just programmed without the Kick, leaving the sound spectrum untouched! This gives you much more opportunities and they are fitting perfectly into your sound context. Two Thumbs up!

RW Computer Music 102Computer Music Magazine UK
The latest instalment in German sound designer Oliver Schmitt’s Revolution series, this DVD boasts over a gigabyte of unique content, ranging from long, drawn out atmospheres to quick, stabby one-shot FX. There are also over 300 kick-free loops at 127 and 140bpm, making this a great disc for bolstering your top end and adding flavour. As with Oliver’s previous release, Club Revolution vol.1, the quality is top notch. All samples are well designed, well categorised and supplied in 24-bit WAV format. It’s no surprise that this release is aimed at dance-orientated producers, but we’d suggest that its ear-massaging qualities might give it a home elsewhere, too.” Rating: 10/10

Music Magazine UKMusic Tech Magazine UK (about FX Revolution Vol.1)
FX Revolution is the second samples pack from German producer Oliver Schmitt, whose Club Revolution Vol.1 gained an MTM Excellence award back in issue 69 (our verdict on the release read ‘An essential toolkit for anyone writing electronic music’). This time around, however, he’s turned his attention to synth effects, creating a massive library of dark atmospheres, ear piercing noises, sweeps and LFO madness. This multiformat DVD contains 1.14gb of 24bit WAV audio along with corresponding sampler patches for EXS and Kontakt. The 300+ kick-free FX loop samples also come in Apple Loop and REX2 formats, offering additional and welcome flexibility. The thin, cut-up vocals, raspy noise rhythms and glitchy filtered hi-hat grooves have all been designed to compliment your main beat, much like the loops in Oliver’s previous samples pack. The bulk of the library covers atmospheric sounds, impacts and one-shots, sweeps, backwards whooshes, a folder of extreme LFO based effects and various other heavily processed noises. The evocative atmospherics selection has a cavernous feel and the subtle detail makes it excellent for film soundtrack work or ambient intros.

The sweeps are complex and multi-layered, often combining moving white noise with rising synth lines. It’s a more-than-minor miracle that Oliver has been able to create in excess of 120 synth sweeps that actually sound different from each other.

If you’re after simple synth FX sounds, then you may want to look elsewhere, as the production in this collection is both intricate and intense. But while these sounds may somewhat over-shadow a track that’s been treated with more basic or sparse production techniques, they will certainly represent an excellent addition to any electronic music producer looking for a more progressive sound, as well as being a great resource for multimedia or game designers.”

//VERDICT// The deepest and most complete Synth FX library we’ve ever heard.

RW Plughugger 102Plughugger
Oliver Schmitt is a man driven by a passion. Just like Deadmau5, Oliver Schmitt knows the art of creating drum loops that sound spot-on modern with a minimum of ingredients. For someone like me – who rather add than take away – it’s almost like dark magic. But as the old idiom famously says ‘the devil is in the details’ – and that’s what Oliver Schmitts loops are all about. Tiny details that you barely register but perceive as a whole.

[…] The reason for this is that these loops do not only lack the kick but also the snare. The omission of the snare might sound like a simple trick, but it makes the all difference in the world when it comes to actually use the loops in your own productions. This does it make very easy to build dynamic drums for entire track – with your favorite snares and kicks.

CONCLUSION
Being a somewhat decent producer myself – I marvel at the cunning steeped in this collection. The sounds are both carefully selected and masterfully processed. The usage of tonal elements is very clever and the loops are very dynamic – giving a feeling of ebb and flow. If you are after the kind of sounds that will help you concur the charts of modern trance pop, this is probably too advanced for your audience. But if you are into modern electro and techno – or want to spice up your productions with those genres – there are few collections that will make you stand out in the same way as these loops will. People will think your production skills are way more advanced that they really are. One final note about the price. In these days when you can grab gigabyte-sized libraries for 10-20 euros, a price of 64 euros is definitely high. But since the quality of these loops is so exceptionally outstanding – Kick Free Revolution files under investment, rather than expense.

Good: truly excellent kick free drum loops. Bad: Nothing really. It is well worth its price. Rating: “Get it now” AWARD!

I have to say very cool library! All the sounds are very well recorded and manipulated. Other products sometimes are too “clear”…you use cool distortions / chorus / eventide effects etc…..also the kicks are super fat!

RW Waveformless 102Waveformless
Clicks & FX Volume 1 is the latest release from sample developers Sounds of Revolution. It’s a multi-format sample library consisting of 75 loops, 75 effects, and 354 “loop elements”. All the samples are created at a tempo of 127 BPM. As the name suggests, the loops here all have a glitchy/clicky sound to them that suggests IDM taken in a groovier direction. That is to say, while the clicky sound design has the glitchy sound of IDM, the grooves themselves are quite head-bobbing and appropriate for use in dance-oriented styles like electro and techno. In fact, most of the loops are positively oozing with groove, making it dead easy to add interest to even the most straightforward four on the floor kick and snare combination. Of course these would be useful to IDM artists looking for a funky, driving feel as well. The “Loop Elements” consists of hundred of individual sounds ranging from single hit percussion sounds, to “micro grooves” that consist of a part of a groove. Both can easily be arranged into your own beats or to augment the full loops provided in the set. Finally, there is the FX section. This consists of more one-shot samples, but taken in a more complex, sound-design-y direction. The odd glitches and percussion are filtered, bit-crushed, delayed, distorted, and more to provide ear-grabbing, interesting sounds to add a dose of coolness to your rhythms. Glitchy sounds obviously aren’t going to appeal to everyone, but this particular set would probably appeal top a wider range than many. Producers of techno, minimal, electro, tech-house and other “techy” styles of music will get the most mileage out of these for sure, but honestly, any electronic style looking to add some unusual, attention-grabbing sounds to their grooves will find something to like here. As with all their libraries, the sounds and loops are full produced and ready to drop into your arrangement as-is, making it super easy to use in addition to sounding great. Rating: 10/10

[…] The bass loops kick off the collection with a wide range of contemporary flavors on offer. From gritty bit crushed squiggles, to fat analog moans, to hard digital coldness, just about every basic mood and style you’re hearing in minimal techno these days is represented here at least a bit. The programming is funky when it’s appropriate, strict when it needs to be, and the production techniques and sound design are top shelf. If something here doesn’t inspire you, you may be beyond help. […] Schmitt’s usual talent for creative and futuristic sounding programming continues here in abundance. All the sounds and production are absolutely current sounding and genre appropriate. All the beats are very well constructed and thought out, but even at their most cerebral, they don’t lose that Teutonic, head-bobbing funk. […] it is clear that Sounds of Revolution are aiming for the top. This library, like their prior offerings, is amazingly consistent and is almost complete devoid of filler material you’d never want to use. If minimal techno is your thing and you’re looking for a good sample collection to get you started, you could certainly do a lot worse than to check this one out! Rating: 10/10

A tremendous amount of FX organized by quickly accessible sub-categories to keep workflow fast. This is a pack that goes the extra mile in so many ways and the inclusion of Apple Loops makes an already useful pack rhythmically employable in any project instantly. Audio fidelity is expert level and these sounds feel prepped for user productions as opposed to being over-hyped in their naked state. The FX Loops are gold and the ‘LFO Madness’ is exactly that (and the list goes on). A strong candidate for One FX Pack To Rule Them All.  Rating 10/10

Oliver and his baby ‘Sounds of Revolution’ (SOR) don’t need any introduction – the sample packs are used worldwide in enumerous productions. While waiting for more soundfood, maybe successors of ‘Club Revolution 1’ and others, we came across a new mini series: smaller packages, but just as useful and precious as always: ‘Abstract&Weird’ and ‘Clicks&Glitches’. Interesting. Let’s do this!

The product titles pretty much say what’s inside: you won’t find a huge main loop collection and some standard percussion samples – these sample packs are taking care of the subtile but yet extremely important part of a decent track: they offer everything you need to perfectly fill the sonic gaps in your track plus to add the special touch to make it (even more) unique.

Abstract & Weird is a specialty you might need some experience for. Listen carefully to trance productions of guys like Sean Tyas or explore some harder stuff of the progressive electro genre: there they are, those special sounds, weird, not really percussion, not very obvious, but they all do one thing: making a track unique and groovy. Until now we couldn?t find any similar sample collection to this one, which makes sense: as mentioned before, these kind of samples do need some producer experience and creativity to handle – otherwise they’re just some non-fitting musical elements. You need to work on them, maybe add a huge amount of high quality reverb and others…in other words, once again: you need creativity. If you think you’re ready for that, you might be the happiest person ever with this perfectly handcrafted sample pack. Rating: 10/10

I’ve noticed that Sounds-of-Revolution has been cranking out Vol. 2 of their previous titles. One of those title is Click & Glitches, a library focused on one thing: to offer cut-up loops and quirky miscellaneous debris of samples to producers. Style-wise, this volume is pretty much the same as the first one with the exception that it has 25 more files (107 MB). This library can be used in conjunction with other loops or drum mixes that requires certain charm or lacks edge over others. Although a micro pack compared to the multi-gigabyte libraries out there, but still has lots of useful sounds that are great for many genres.

RW Waveformless 102Waveformless
Although I really enjoy programming my own drums, loops can sometimes be lifesavers in adding a specific feel or groove. The trouble is, most loop collections are of full drum parts, so if you want to mix your own drum programming with the loops, you have to try and EQ out the kick, or your low end turns to audio mush. Wouldn’t it be great to have just the elements that lend the groove without all the other bits? That’s exactly the idea behind Kick Free Revolution Volume 3 from Sounds of Revolution.

Divided into categories of Kit Loops (electronic hats, thips, perc, and occasional simple snare parts), Hi-hat loops (just what it sounds like), Live Percussion Loops (acoustic percussion loops), Minimal Loops (bleepy/twonky electronic loops perfect for minimal and tech house), Mixed Loops (loops created with all sorts of sounds), Noise Loops (interesting loops created with white noise), Synth Perc (just what it sounds like), and Tonal Loops (loops with tuned percussion elements). The loops all clock in at 127 BPM, but if you’re using the REX/Stylus format, you can change the tempo of most of these loops across a fairly wide range of tempos without unwanted artifacts.

Producer Oliver Schmitt’s production style generally leans towards the heavier end of the spectrum with most of the loops very aggressively compressed and the high end EQ tweaked. There is plenty of that here, but there are also lots of lighter sounding material should that fit your musical context better. In fact, I’d say the best part of this collection is the variety of what is offered here. There’s plenty of loosely swinging hats for house or techno, ethnic percussion for adding a more exotic feel, Kraftwerkian laser rhythms for an electronic edge, straight forward dance grooves, you name it. It’s a fun collection to audition loops from because you’re never quite sure what the next loop is going to sound and feel like. This makes it very easy to recommend to musicians looking to add a little inspiration to their drum tracks. Rating: 09 / 10

There’s not much change to SOR’s winning formula here: 777 percussive house loops at 127 bpm without any kicks to get in the way of your own humongous bass drum sounds. It’s quality stuff, and while there are no surpises, there are some solid loops; especially in the melodic section where things get a little more interesting thanks to some pitch touches that add inspirtation to the otherwhise fairly dry material. Rating: 08/10

There’s plenty of phasing, flanging, filtering, extreme EQ and distortion going on, resulting in loops with unique timbres and feels. It’s as slick as you’d expect from Sounds of Revolution. Take a listen to the demo before you invest, as it’s an acquired taste. 7/10

This does just what it says on the label: it is a really useful collection of top-loops. I would mostly recomend this to pumpin’ Tech House producers on the lookout for nicely swingin’ and jackin’ loops, as an addition to their beats. The sound quality is good, with a lot of brightness…Recomended! Rating: 8/10

We’ll be rinsing these!! Loads of bright groovy shuffles. Plenty of variety and will save loads of time sifting though different hats to find the right balance for the top layer of our tracks. Essential ‘Top’ material for anyone making house music. Rating: 9/10

Here we have a small sample pack (dubbed micro series) from Sounds-of-Revolution entitled ‘Hats & Tops Vol.1″. This is a ‘specialty’ collection comprising 100 hat and top loops, and nothing else. It is very convenient to those looking for a specific kick-less loop without having to sort out folders and folders of samples. Use the samples to augment into your drum mixes or use as is as fillers in gaps or
transitions in breakdowns. All 24-bit files were programmed from scratch and applied with the latest processing tools for maximum sound and fidelity. Best if used for house or any EDM.

RW Computer Music 102Computer Music UK
There isn’t a kick in sight here, but that’s no bad thing. All the loops are designed to spice up your drums by adding an extra crispy rhytmn. There are 100 of the tightest, bounciest top lines you’ve heard, and the good news is that the’ll sit well in any club-based genre. What’s more, the REX support means that they’ll stretch to any BPM. Rating: 9/10

As the vintage Ronseal advert says “it does what it says on the tin.” Here Resonance Sound give you a chunky pack filled with vintage movie samples that instantly conjour up the golden era of the big screen and will add some instant old skool sampler style sheen to your tunes. An interesting pack that provides nothing but hi hat and top end lines – no kicks or bass lines here, as the title would suggest. You can get a quick hi hat fix here if the placement of one-shots is too arduous! Useful for those who enjoy working with loops … Rating: 7/10

Tribal Progressive Revolution Vol. 1 is the latest offering from Sounds-of-Revolution that caters to the electro-tribal, tribal-tech, house, and progressive house crowd. This sample pack contains 2.80 GB of sophisticated modern sounds such as drums, bass and synth loops with tempos in 127 BPM. Like many of the Sounds-of-Revolution titles, Tribal Progressive is no exception in delivering an assortment of loops in the ‘kick-free’ (meaning no bass kicks) department, as well as loop kits and live recordings. All in all you get 1200 files that are in WAV, Apple AIFF and REX2 formats, plus sampler patches for Kontakt 4 and EXS24. What’s great about this sample pack is that the style presented here really varies. It can be ideal in a wide variety of genres without having to think if the loops fit into a certain mix or not. With that being said, Tribal Progressive is a good starter library that is loaded with first-rate samples.

RW Computer Music 102Computer Music UK
This is all about progressive deep house paired with tribal rhythms and textures. It’s the same high quality we’re used to from SOR maestro Oliver Schmitt, and it’s open-ended nature means any electronic genres should benefit from this bulging pack. The price might reel in only the most dedicated progressive experiments, though. Rating 08/10

Despite the name, Abstract & Weird’s 200 rhythmic loops aren’t a total break from SOR’s club-friendly vibe. It’s all about ring-modulated percussion and heavily processed FX, and none of it would sound out of place in the Beatport tech house Top Ten. It’s varied, fresh and inspiring, and just as good for creating memorable drops as it is for layering with more traditional beats. Rating: 8/10

This new sample pack by Sounds-of-Revolution aims to be a good reference library for composers of experimental, IDM and noise music. Abstract and Weird Vol. 1 gives you the necessary ingredients to cook up some “off-kilter” music.

There are 200 24-bit WAV files (198 MB) REX and Apple Loops AIFF supported, as well as sampler patches for EXS24 and Kontakt. So what do you get? All kinds of otherworldly, peculiar and mostly FX-ridden sounds are presented in this library. There are FX, atmospherics, uplifters and all kinds of twisted sounds from the mind of programmer Oliver Schmitt.

I love this library’s superior quality in terms of how the loops were recorded. The spiky and glitchy drum loops are top notch and the best offering. They are specifically designed for flexibility in creating experimental electronica and other electronic sub-genres.

Oliver and his baby ‘Sounds of Revolution’ (SOR) don’t need any introduction – the sample packs are used worldwide in enumerous
productions.

Clicks & Glitches is a really lovely package to work with: all those extremely groovy, special click sounds are provided as basic loops, meaning that you don’t get perfectly grooving loops but truly inspiring material to work with: everything inside a loop is perfectly processed, but you have to work on most of the loops to make them fit into your track ? which isn’t of any disadvantage at all!

‘Clicks&Glitches’ makes you instantly cut, copy and rearrange the loops – at least it inspired our creativity from the very first moment. For every fan of electro house and progressive, for sure also other genres, there’s no better collection of these kind of sounds. Rating: 10/10

Well, this is something different. I have never reviewed a ‘micro pack’ before and this is the first, though certainly not the last. This pack lives up to my expectations, with some pretty useable esoteric loops that can add a little ‘extra’ to your compositions. It’s primarily geared for minimal techno but other electronic music producers can benefit from this as well. All loops are recorded in the standard 127 BPM and are offered in different formats such as 24-bit WAVs, REX, Apple AIFF loops, plus EXS24 and Kontakt 4 patches. Clicks and Glitches Vol.1 comprises 100 loops (107 MB) that can also serve as top loops for drum mixes lacking that certain charm. A hundred loop library and for only 10.92 Euros (plus tax/VAT)…. you can’t go wrong with this.

I think the whole SOR series are a grail of good stuff actually useful to find their way in real records. Even if I don´t really use loops, the way the loops are produced in this series makes it easy to chop and cut them up into easy-to-isolate one-shot samples. I chopped up big parts from Minimal Tech Revolution and Kick Free Revolution. Takes time, but its really worth it. No resampled samples from other sampled stuff that took their samples also from other tracks/samples. No overused dynamics or effects and stuff, so you can easily tweak them to your own style. […] So stellt uns Oliver z. Testnote 1

Minimal Techno Revolution comprises a huge library of one-shots and loops, totalling over 2000 samples. Each folder is meticulously filed, with subfolders making it easy to find the sound you need. Every sound is upfront, tight and powerful, and what’s more, it’s easy to get inspired and start working on ideas right away. One of the best things about the included loops is how they don’t try and take over a project they’re EQ’ed to sit tightly without intruding. The kicks are fantastic, offering weight and power. If you can’t find something you like in this package, you’re in the wrong business. Rating: 9/10

This comes from German sound designer and sample developer Oliver Schmitt aka “Sounds of Revolution.” Another part of the Revolution series, Minimal Techno Vol. 1 is his latest sample set featuring over 3.16 GB (including 1.1GB content of 2167 WAV files) of loops and one-shots in pristine 24-bit quality. It is delivered in different formats, so you’ll get REX2, AIFF Apple loops and patches for EXS24 and Kontakt 3. The vast majority of the loops fall into the minimal techno sub-genre but Sounds of Revolution also designed the loops to be useful in other electronic music production as well. The 1500 single sounds of bass, synths, fragments, kick drums, claps, sound effects, electronic percussion and toms offer immense variety that can be beneficial to those who want to construct their own custom kits. As for the overall delivery and programming of the loops, and as I expected from a Sounds of Revolution product, this is a high quality sample pack worthy of praise

An excellent follow up of the Kick Free Volume 1 set. Easy to fit in any production because it has everything ranging from tight and dry hihat loops to creative beats with effects, clicks, percussive sounds and extreme beats.

Ein Detail was SOUNDS OF REVOLUTION von so manchem Mitbewerber massiv unterscheidet.

Rating: 10/10

Conclusion: Kick Free Revolution 2 is a good collection of loops that you can use to quickly spiff up your tracks. All in all, this collection offers a nice balance of traditional kick-free loops and slightly more experimental material. While the classic kick-less loops walks pretty much in the middle of the road, that is not a bad thing. Good hihat/percussion patterns have worked wonders in all time of modern music and will continue be in high demand. The highlights of this collection is when Oliver Schmitt is exploring minimalistic grooves and is playing around with odd time signatures – that’s when you forget that you’re listening to a sample library and start producing just by sheer pleasure. […]

Good: Good, original material which spans from classic dance music hihat/percussion patterns to the odd (but not too odd) and fresh.
Bad: No big critisism here.

If I had to choose one word, it would be “groove”. This is a collection of funky, groovy top loops?you know…the stuff that moves the track along? No synths, no bass, no pads or fx, straight up top loops. Glitches, blips, and other funkiness to give your track that ‘life’ […] How do they sound? Authentic…at least to me. Now I may not be an authority on house music, but I know a groove when I hear it…and I also know the types of sounds I look for. Experimental glitches, blips and bleeps…funky breaks and percussion, all with room to add your own kicks and drums to the mix. Well recorded, well produced and just plain fun to play. This is the first sample collection I have reviewed from them, and I can see why people like their products. They give you what you need, nothing more. I look at top loops as the icing on the cake, or if you want to go minimal they can be the whole cake! But they have to sound good and be recorded well, these loops live up to that challenge. So what’s the bottom line? This is a good collection for those that like to step out of the norm when it comes to sounds they incorporate into their music. Or it’s great for those specifically looking for some funky house grooves to add to their productions. I give this collection a 4 out of 5 subs. I like the overall feel of the collection, and it’s very useful. I did feel it got a bit repetitive in some parts, but not much, mainly in the glitchy sounds and loops but then again, a glitch is a glitch and the way they were produced provides enough variety. Taking into account the target of the collection? ‘top loops’ it lives up to and provides a great collection of grooves you can quickly infuse into your tracks.

[…] Die Preisgestaltung ist sehr fair und kundenfreundlich.[…]

Now we’re talking. SOR’s Oliver Schmitt returns with another impeccable pack for dance musicians. This library provides over 500 percussive loops for all four-to-the-floor dance genres: minimal, electro, trance and house of any flavour will benefit from this collection of glitchy, clicky, processed joy, categorised according to their general style. The clever bit is that all loops are programmed from scratch, but come sans kick drum. Thus it’s easy to use them in your productions and drop your own kicks in there (70 bonis kicks are thrown in too). We could even imagine some of these loops working their way into DnB and breaks tunes: the superior production quality means that you’ll be satisfied even if you just grab a short section of each loop. This one is just shy of classic status – it’s not quite unique enough for that – but that’s certainly not to disrecommend it in any way. Rating: 9/10

There are a lot of drum loop libraries that offer great drum patterns. They are useful, they sound full and are ready to use by themselves no doubt, but the problem sometimes is that it’s hard to integrate them into your own drum mixes. Enter Kick Free Revolution Vol. 1 and 2, a collection of drum loops crafted with very little or minute low-end. The idea behind a kick free library is nothing new, yet it is clever. It’s intended to give producers a mix and match option for building new and unique drum patterns.

The first volume includes 684 loops all recorded at 127 BPM. Most of them would be suitable for electronic music such as Techno and House, but depending on your creativity, you can use these sounds any way you see fit. The samples are broken down to three main categories: “Experimental” will give producers effects and “something different” sounds, “Main” contain samples that are more of your typical everyday loops and “Perc” would work perfectly if you need realistic percussion elements. While Vol. 1 is delivered in DVD disc format, Vol. 2 is a downloadable product at Sounds-of-Revolution and Sounds/To/Sample sites. Continuing where Vol.1 left off, this library of 611 loops has basically the same formula as the original but it includes 70 deep, round kicks as a bonus. Oliver Schmitt, the man behind SoR, has sprinkled this collection with more diverse-sounding materials than the the first one. You’ll find a bunch of hi-hat patterns, 140 club-oriented sounds, tonal loops with 52 melodic beatlines and 100-plus glitched-out loops for experimental enthusiasts. They say that sequels are supposed to be better than the original, and Vol. 2 delivers. Although both libraries are kind of pricey, they are superbly programmed with many usable sounds.

Reviewers favourite Olli Schmitt and his Sound of Revolution label return with volume two of Kick Free Revolution, 600+ loops of tight tops at 127bpm.
For your buck you get ‘140 definitive big-room bangers’ as well as some really sweet click and glitch loops, which although geared towards the house world can be thrown anywhere with a bit of tweakage. Add some hats, percussion, tonal offerings and 24-bit formats and it looks like Mr Schmitt has produced another gem. Oh and in case you lack the bottom end to make full use of this top-heavy package Mr Schmitt gives you 70 kick drums covering all bases. Bonus! Rating: 9/10

It’s not hard to guess we were amazed reviewing this product. And besides a sometimes too excessive stereofield usage we were not able to find negative aspects. The Sound Of Revolution Series are not only one of the biggest and diverse sample packages available at the moment, but most important is that they are unbelievable usable! Looking for a fresh sounding loops for EDM or any other musicstyle…you got it. Looking for a tight fitting bass sound…no problem. At the moment we are working on a couple of new Ernesto vs Bastian tracks and remixes and all we can say about that is that we used quite a bit of the massive sounds of SOR. Recommended! 5 STARS!

The fourth title in this series contains 2.58GB of content. Single hits include kicks, snares. chords, synths, basses, percussion, cymbals and FX. There are plenty of Oliver Schmitt’s famous kick-free loops, as well as general percussive, bass and synth loops. The standard of production here is absolutely first-class, and while the stylistic focus is often dark, dirty and gritty, this fine library will prove its worth to any dance music producer. Rating: 10/10

Oliver Schmitt, aka Sounds of Revolution, is rapidly becoming one of FM’s favourite sample creators. In this latest package, he adds an Electro element to his usual Techno and House style. With synth samples, chords, grooves, vocals, drum loops and plenty more, no stone has been left unturned in Schmitt’s hunt for the best Electro House sounds. Everything’s presented in WAV, Apple Loops and REX plus EXS24 and Kontakt patches to get started. With 2.6GB of content, this disc has plenty of quality sounds. Rating: 10/10

There’s actually a surprising amount of variation in the countless dance-based samples packs that land on the MTM doormat. Despite the recent massive influx of electro house based sound libraries, each one has a slightly different angle that sets it apart. This latest pack from German sound wizard Oliver Schmitt, for instance, leans towards the more experimental and dark edge of electro and techno, offering a choice selection of familiar and new twisted sounds.

The sample pack contains 333 bass, drum and synth loops in 24bit/44.1 WAV, Apple Loops and REX2 format. The bass and synth loops are all expertly produced but not too over cooked or compressed, with a little subtle stuttering and ambience for added character. The drum grooves have several versions of each loop for added flexibility, ranging from thin kick free percussion to full multi layered beats.

Although these loops are excellent, the main focus of the pack is the huge collection of instantly playable sounds, with patches mapped out for EXS24 and Kontakt. There are hundreds of heavy electro basses, lush housey chords and synths, twisted bleeps, effects and whooshes, plus more than 1,200 soft and hard drum and percussion samples. Schmitt has also added folders of more experimental sounds with processed live-recorded rhythms, scratches and vocal phrases, even including some effected recordings of his two-year-old son!

All of the above adds up to a massive pack with excellent production and a lot of variety. Whilst the more traditional Electro-House sounds are all catered for, experimentation is the key, with some highly original and quirky hits and grooves that could be used to help your music stand out from the crowd.

//VERDICT// Excellent selection of traditional and more cutting-edge and experimental electro sounds. Rating: 9/10

Daumen rauf!

RW Logic User 102Logic User
Die DVD beinhaltet alles, was zeitgemäße Tracks erfordern.

This sample pack from Sounds of Revolution takes inspiration from the dirty side of house genre and includes a variety of electro staples such as banging drum loops, gritty basses, punch-thru-the-mix synthlines, cool chords, vocals and gnarly effect samples. SOR’s head honcho Oliver Schmitt, packed plenty of samples to play with (2.58 GB of content) along with popular audio formats supported. With WAV, Apple AIFF loops, REX and Kontakt patches there are plenty of quality sounds here. If you’re experimental like me, the samples are easy to work with because most of them were left dry for further processing. This is a big plus because, sometimes, I’d like to torture my samples beyond recognition. If you’re seeking a library chuck full of electro elements make sure you consider auditioning, demoing or purchasing this pack.

One thing that sets Sounds of Revolution apart from the rest of the companies putting out sample DVDs right now is their love of kick-free loops. Most of the samples here would be suitable for producers of just about any kind of House or Techno and with 684 kick-free loops all at 127bpm. They’re fantastically versatile sounds which will add to your productions rather than just being a set of finished loops that do all the hard work for you. Sound design whiz Oliver Schmitt returns to Mutekki Media, responding to user requests for more of the kick-free drum patterns that cropped up on his previous titles. The idea is that with very little low-end, these 680 dance-based loops are easy to integrate into your own drum mixes. All loops are at 127bpm, so it would seem the emphasis is on house music, and there are three categories: Experimental has strange loops with lots of quirky hits and FX; Main contains more typical loops, very up to date and easy to adapt to many styles; Perc covers more realistic percussion, such as congas and bongos. This title isn’t as exceptional as Schmitt’s previous output, but it is highly usable. Rating: 8/10

…] These are the types of sounds you bring out when you want to add that extra sparkle of interest to your arrangements – dramatic reverses, booming impacts, whooshing noise sweeps – that sort of thing. That description doesn’t really do this collection justice, though, as the production quality is extremely slick and the effects themselves are often quite layered and complex. […] The sound quality is beautiful and the sound design is creative and tasteful. Most of the sounds are actually several layers of sounds mixed and processed together for some very complex and high-tech effects (although low-tech is present here too if that’s your bag). Many of the sounds also have very wide stereo images and epic reverb applied to up the “wow” factor. In other words, these are not subtle sounds. These are for when you want to get the listeners attention and take your track to that proverbial next level. […] The only thing that keeps this from being a full 10/10 is the price.

Last issue, when I reviewed Kick Free Revolution Vol. 1 & 2 from Sounds of Revolution, I gave both libraries high marks for their excellent quality. Lots of good dance sounds, I remember. In this sample pack, however, SOR’s Oliver Schmitt unveils himself as a diverse sound designer by serving modern FX samples for use in electronic and dance genre. Although Sounds of Revolution is known worldwide to make techno, house and dance loops, FX Revolution Vol. 1 is as equally impressive as his other releases. Included in this pack are odd noises, nice filtered sweeps, twisted LFO sounds, hard-hitting impacts & explosions, futuristic percussive sounds and a massive set of one-shots for building your own custom drum kits. I explored the 900+ samples by auditioning them in Sound Forge 9. I find that the sounds are carefully crafted and edited with the use of clever processing. What impressed me are the good selections of impact and explosion sounds, even the additional 300+ kick-free loops rock.

Especially impressing are the experimental- and kick-free-loops, that can be used particularly well as add-on-beats. […] The samples are not just filtered major-beats, but sound transparent and clear. Sometimes electronic sterile, then again organic warm, all frequenzy areas are being served from the lower middles to the heights. […] In addition Schmitt has got a variety of single sounds for his library in order to compose also individual beats. […]

Very good sounding sounds, that are also interesting for all kinds of genres. […] varied, authentic and powerful produced […] Here we don`t have only menue-programs, where you can audio test the same samples via the keyboard – added are real playable programs for each single tonal sound. Considering the frame of possibilities this is real luxury. […] Club Revolution can now compete with top dog Mutekki […] Oliver Schmitt sets a course regarding the sound: His samples sound even a bit rougher and cooler than the ones of Mutekki – a good alternative or supplement. Try it out!

Oliver Schmitt, mastermind behind the renowned sound forge “Sounds Of Revolution” already could make an excellent name for himself as a designer for sound supplies for Synthesizer like JP-8000, Virus or also Nordlead. Now his first Loop-CD is being awaited and promises a lot: Already when first playing the drum-, bass-, breakbeat-, synth- and effect libraries one is enthusiastic about the solid sound and the thereby high assertiveness of the material. Here one never feels just to get one more “filling material”, all loops seem to be original and perfectly conditioned. A novelty are also the contained 575 no-kick-loops! High recommendation!

Treibend, frisch, groovy! Das Frequenzspektrum bleibt also komplett erhalten.

Unschöne Artefakte sucht man hier umsonst.

[…] Although this CD covers a wide spectrum of electronic dance genre, the highlight of this library is the 575 kick-free loops. These serves as “top” loops that can be used to augment your main drum loops. Other worthy of mention are the juicy contents of the “Electro stuff” folder. These are full of inspirational loops to start a song. If you may say, the idea of Club Revolution Vol.1 is to interest producers in having everything in one sample library, to have a good selection of sounds in differenz formats, and a variety of electronic genres that it can serve. Club Revolution meets the above purpose and more.
